WCA Technologies Supports the Cybersecurity Tech Accord

The Cybersecurity Tech Accord, launched in 2018, is a public commitment by technology companies to improve the security, stability, and resilience of cyberspace.

WCA Technologies is a signatory to the Accord, which is committed to protecting users and customers everywhere:

The online world has become a cornerstone of global society, important to virtually every aspect of our public infrastructure and private lives. As we look to the future, new online technologies will do even more to help address important societal challenges, from improving education and healthcare to advancing agriculture, business growth, job creation, and addressing environmental sustainability. Recent events, however, have put online security at risk. Malicious actors, with motives ranging from criminal to geopolitical, have inflicted economic harm, put human lives at risk, and undermined the trust that is essential to an open, free, and secure internet. Attacks on the availability, confidentiality, and integrity of data, products, services, and networks have demonstrated the need for constant vigilance, collective action, and a renewed commitment to cybersecurity.

This week, as the United Nations’ (UN) leading forum on cybersecurity convenes in New York, the Cybersecurity Tech Accord is calling for the group to embrace an unambiguous international norm to prohibit state-sponsored cyberattacks targeting the ICT supply chain.

To this end, the proposed norm would read as follows:

States should not engage in, or allow any persons within their territory or jurisdiction to engage in, cyber operations that would compromise the general availability, security, integrity or confidentiality of commercial ICT products and services, in particular as it relates to software and security update mechanisms. This would include, but not be limited to, operations intended for espionage that affect ICT products or services in general use.

WCA Technologies is proud to be a signatory to the Cybersecurity Tech Accord and to have attended this week’s session.
