time bombCisco has identified an issue related to a component manufactured by a supplier that affects millions of their products.  It is a time bomb that could negatively affect your 2017 results.

WARNING:  If you do not identify and correct this problem before the component fails, the Cisco solution will stop functioning, will not boot, and is not recoverable.

This failure can occur in as little as 18 months.  The risk of failure increases substantially as the component degrades over time.

What should you do about it?

For a limited time, at no charge WCA will assess your technology environment to confirm whether any of these products are being used at your organization.  This free network security assessment is available to businesses, nonprofits, and government entities in Manhattan and throughout New York City.

Due to the age-based nature of the failure of this component and the volume of assessments being scheduled, WCA Technologies is prioritizing assessments on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Don’t delay.

MORE INFORMATION

Cisco is one of the most highly respected, trusted brands in technology.  To be fair, this issue is with a third-party component.  Cisco is demonstrating the utmost integrity by notifying clients of this potential failure.  This announcement reaffirms the world can continue to trust Cisco to provide reliable products and stand behind them.

The reason some people are referring to this as a “time bomb” is because this particular problem is third-party faulty clock timing chips integrated into many Cisco switches, routers, and security appliances.  Clock components are critical to the synchronization of multiple levels of a given device.  When these clock components fail after 18 months or more of service, those switches, routers, and security appliances crash and are unrecoverable.  This can be a costly disaster for any organization.

The challenge is this component is widely deployed by Cisco and a number of other companies.  Some of Cisco’s most popular products are affected, including certain models of its Series 4000 Integrated Services Routers, Nexus 9000 Series switches, plus a variety of ASA security devices to Meraki Cloud Managed Switches.

Cisco wrote: “In some units, we have seen the clock signal component degrade over time.  Although the Cisco products with this component are currently performing normally, we expect product failures to increase over the years, beginning after the unit has been in operation for approximately 18 months.”

Do not wait.  Your organization is doing everything possible to GROW, not “slow” this year.  Cisco products are critical parts of the technology circulatory and immune systems that support your organization’s daily business processes.  Failure of any of these components is not just a distraction, but could significantly affect your year-end results.

ACT NOW to schedule a complimentary I.T. network security assessment that includes checking to see if you have any of the affected Cisco, Meraki, and other Cisco-brand products currently operating in your organization could be affected by this component failure.
